Steelers Playoff Picture – Week 13
“On the outside looking in.”
“Most dangerous team on the bubble.”
“Must win situation.”
The words are all too familiar with Steeler Nation. Since the infamous Tim Tebow overtime touchdown pass, Pittsburgh hasn’t been a dominating force, as much as they have been an up-and-down team always on the cusp of the postseason, flirting with a .500 record.
The same is true once again this season, though the talent is certainly there, a number of injuries combined with a tough schedule has placed the Steelers just outside of the playoffs after a loss to Seattle droppped them to a 6-5 record.
Here is a current peak at Pittsburgh’s playoff standing.
Currently, the Steelers have a worse AFC record than the teams ahead of them, which is why they share a 6-5 record with other teams, but do not have a tiebreaker over them. With 5 games remaining, all against AFC conference opponents, the time is neigh for the team to make a run. An 11-5 (winning all 5 games) or 10-6 would situate them nicely for a wildcard spot.
However, 9-6 probably won’t cut the mustard: with 2 big games upcoming against the Bengals and Broncos, Pittsburgh will have to overcome whatever obstacles are ahead of them, and gain some tiebreakers (namely conference record) in order to have a shot at the postseason.
