Steelers and Pizza Hut join forces in multi-year partnership
The Pittsburgh Steelers have followed in the footsteps of Seattle Seahawks by announcing that Pizza Hut will be the new official pizza partner of the team. A multi-year agreement has been penned between the two parties and this follows Pizza Hut becoming the official pizza of the NFL, after they replaced Papa John’s back in February.
There’s already a lot of excitement about Pizza Hut’s involvement, both with the Steelers and the NFL.
Over the course of the 2018 campaign, Pizza Hut will be tasked with preparing Steelers fans for game day in a variety of different ways. They will be delivering content through all digital and social platforms which include Steelers.com, the Steelers mobile app and official social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Fans will be able to keep abreast of everything going on and off the field; by visiting sports news sites that specialize in NFL such as Betting.com which also carry a list of trusted bookmakers as well. Pizza Hut has also struck up a deal to partner with Steelers’ wide receivers Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster too, so they will be heavily involved in the content produced during the 2018 season.
There’s certainly mutual respect from both parties surrounding the partnership between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pizza Hut. Zipporah Allen, Pizza Hut’s Chief Marketing Officer, had this to say about the new partnership:
Few franchises in sports are as revered as the Pittsburgh Steelers, so it is with great pride that we enter into a partnership with one of the most iconic teams in the NFL. We look forward to the opportunity of offering fans of the Steel Curtain exclusive deals, promotions and entertainment throughout the season.
After the deal was struck, the Steelers vice president of sales and marketing said:
We are proud to work with Pizza Hut as our new sponsor, and we’re excited to be part of their jump into the NFL.
He went on to express his optimism about the partnership:
Pizza Hut’s dedication to customer service will be great for our fans and customers in Western Pennsylvania. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for AB and JuJu, and we’re sure Steelers Nation will love it too.
Pizza Hut replaced Papa John’s as the official NFL pizza partner after Papa John’s former CEO and company founder, John Schnatter, criticized the NFL’s handling of the National Anthem controversy which has been ongoing for a while. Since then, Schnatter has resigned as chairman of the board too after it was reported that he used racist language during a conference call.
It’s a huge blow for Papa John’s to lose out on their deal with the NFL, but it’s a great opportunity for Pizza Hut to prove their worth, not just through great pizza, but with great social and digital content too.
Fans are already excited about what the new deal will mean and how the face of the NFL game-day build up could look with Pizza Hut in control, with Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks supporters especially expectant, due to their own partnership arrangements with Pizza Hut.
