They say that the third week of the preseason, where most starters actually play a quarter or two, is the “dress rehearsal”.
For Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft pick Terrell Edmunds, it was his arrival party instead.
Playing with the starting defense with the veteran Morgan Burnett sidelined, Edmunds showed everyone why he was selected by Pittsburgh with their first pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
On a 3rd and 2 play, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota stepped back to pass, his eyes set on fellow receiver Taywan Taylor. However, the Steelers safety had other intentions.
Staying step-for-step with Taylor, Edmunds shifted into another gear as Mariota released the ball. Edmunds would step in front of Taylor, intercepting the pass and going to the ground, but never touched by an opponent.
Edmunds would then show his speed, getting up and returning the picked-off pass 30 yards before being stopped.
