Watch: Justin Hunter’s deep TD catch makes him a viable target for Big Ben
Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2018 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!
Justin Hunter’s name wasn’t called often last year, and even after a second solid training camp with the Steelers, the veteran wide receiver wasn’t seeing many looks through the first two weeks of the preseason.
Entering the third week of exhibition games and the proverbial “dress rehearsal”, Hunter entered Pittsburgh’s starting lineup. The pass catcher would make the most of his opportunity on the afternoon after Ben Roethlisberger threw a 32-yard pass which appeared to be caught out of bounds.
However, upon further review, Hunter dragged one foot while getting his second one down in-bounds. The play was originally called incomplete by the officiating crew but would be overturned following a challenge from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
It’s plays such as this one that may aid Hunter in making the final 53-man roster as he appears to be a more than suitable fill-in for the departed Martavis Bryant.
