Watch: “Wizard of Boz” pulls fake field goal, touchdown, out of his hat
Steel City Underground will pick a play of the game from each side of the ball each week of the Steelers 2018 season. Stay tuned as we hand select the very best from the black and gold!
After leaving ten points on the field following a freak fumble/touchback (rather than a touchdown) and a blocked field goal, the Steelers found themselves down 10-3 right before halftime. A promising 73-yard drive stalled, leaving Pittsburgh with no choice but to send its special teams unit out with three seconds remaining before the end of the second quarter.
As CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo stated, “they have to come away with points” in reference to not leaving more on the table by being overaggressive.
Well, so much for that!
The Steelers placekicker Chris Boswell, who is affectionately nicknamed the “Wizard of Boz”, pulled a rabbit out of his hat on this fake field goal play. Boz takes the direct snap, rolls right and tosses a spiral of a pass for offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva, who played tight end in college.
The result was a touchdown and a tie game going into the locker room for halftime.
