Watch: Big Ben finds JuJu deep for game-winning TD
Well, folks, the Steelers are your 2020 AFC North Champions, and what a roller coaster of a game it was.
After what looked like a repeat of last week, the Steelers put together one of their best comebacks in recent years. Overcoming a 17-point deficit, the Steelers defeated the Colts 28-24 to claim the division title for the first time since 2017.
Late in the 4th quarter, Ben Roethlisberger led the Steelers on their third scoring drive that ended in one of his most clutch throws of the past decade.
With 7:43 left in the 4th, the Steelers are at a 1st and 10 driving in Colts territory. Lined up in a three-receiver set, JuJu Smith-Schuster is lined up in the slot. Ben snaps the ball and drops back. Juju darts straight up the middle between the entire defense. Ben displays his signature pump-fake and freezes one of the Colts safeties. He then throws a beautiful dime right into Juju’s hands for a very clutch 25-yard score.
This would be the winning score that helped seal the deal.
I do not know what was said at halftime. Whatever it was, it was like a Thanos snap for the Steelers offense and turned the clock back a few weeks ago. The play calling was excellent. The execution was for the most part excellent. What we witnessed was what we are capable of if they are 100% focused.
While the win is glorious, we must not forget what the first half was like. This team still has some flaws and they must continue to address them. They must also use today’s thrilling win as a building block as they prepare for the playoffs.
Now they must decide for next week, whether to sit the starters or to continue momentum against the Cleveland Browns in week 17. Let us enjoy this win and look forward to the near future.
