Plays of the Year: Mike Hilton comes up clutch with Deshaun Watson interception

Steel City Underground presents “Plays of the Year” featuring the top runs, catches, hits and everything else in-between from the Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 season.

As the Steelers traded punches with the Houston Texans during Week 3 of the 2020 season, it was getting down to the wire. Big Ben and the offense brought Pittsburgh back slowly after a horrific first half. (At one point the Steelers were down 14-3 early on.)

Early in the 4th quarter, Deshaun Watson was driving down the field to potentially extend the Texans lead. While the Steelers ball-hawking defense had yet to get a single turnover up to this point, one man answered the call… and it could not come at a better time!

It’s 3rd and 15 on Pittsburgh’s 43-yard line. Watson takes the snap out of the shotgun. Both T.J. Watt and Ola Adeniyi rush off the edge and force Watson to roll out to the right. Watt, Wormley and Adeniyi are chasing down Watson as he throws across his body.

Watt lays Watson out as he throws his pass intended for Kenny Stills. Right before Stills can make a play on the ball, Mike Hilton snags the pass right in front of him.

This interception would help set up Big Ben’s game-winning drive of 12 plays for 79 yards. The drive took a little over seven minutes off the clock, playing into Pittsburgh’s favor.

The Steelers would eventually bring home the win 28-21.

Mike Hilton had a spectacular day ending the day as the Steelers leading tackler at 7 with a single interception.

The Steelers would start at 3-0 for the first time since 2010, and looked ahead to their Week 4 matchup against the Tennessee Titans… little did they know how their season was about to be drastically altered.
