Weekly game balls were hard to distribute, again, in ugly loss to Bengals
The Steelers add another L to the loss column with a home defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite that, there were some positives from Sunday’s defeat.
Let’s talk about the players who still put in an effort and deserve some recognition.
Najee Harris
The woes continued today for the offense, but one of the bright spots was Najee Harris. The running back’s many abilities showed up on the stat sheet Sunday.
Najee closed out the game with 40 yards rushing on 14 attempts. Najee was also the leading receiver for the Steelers with 14 receptions for 102 yards.
Let’s hope that Mike Tomlin and his coaching staff figures out this running game, so Najee Harris can get going!
Pat Freiermuth
I couldn’t do this article without showing some love to Mr. Freiermuth.
Heinz Field erupted in “MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTH!!” several times Sunday as the second round rookie continued to impress.
Pat Freiermuth scored his first pro touchdown by way of a Ben Roethlisberger pass near the goal line. Pat finished the day with 3 receptions (on 5 targets) for 22 yards.
Chase Claypool
Along with Pat Freiermuth and Najee Harris, Chase Claypool was another bright spot on offense.
He finished the day with 96 receiving yards (right behind Najee Harris) on nine receptions (with fifteen targets).
Terrell Edmunds
I can’t only show love towards the offense, so my last game ball goes to Terrell Edmunds.
Edmunds notched the Steelers first interception of the year after his safety counterpart Minkah Fitzpatrick tipped an errant Joe Burrow pass.
Edmunds finished the day with five total tackles (two solo, three assisted), one pass defensed, and one interception.
