Plays of the Year: Ben Roethlisberger’s final career TD pass at Heinz Field

Steel City Underground presents “Plays of the Year” featuring the top runs, catches, hits and everything else in-between from the Pittsburgh Steelers 2021 season.

Fans may have witnessed one of the greatest games to ever be played in Heinz Field history as Ben Roethlisberger played his final home game at the venue on ESPN’s Monday Night Football in the next-to-last game of the 2021 regular season.

Hosting the Cleveland Browns, the game remained scoreless through the first quarter, as the Steelers had struggled to score a touchdown in the first half of their previous five games.

Big Ben would get one last swan song, however, as the Steelers took possession of the ball as the Browns punted to begin the second quarter.

On a ten-play, 66-yard drive, the Steelers would rumble down to the Cleveland five-yard line, before Ben faked a handoff to Najee Harris, with a quick slight of hand pass to WR Diontae Johnson.

The toss would prove to be Roethlisberger’s only touchdown pass of the game, finishing with spotty numbers overall. Despite 46 pass attempts, Big Ben would only throw for 123 yards, plus a touchdown and interception each, as the Steelers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 26-14 one-sided victory over the Browns.
