Pittsburgh Steelers 60/1 to win Super Bowl 58 according to Westgate SuperBook
Super Bowl 57 has only just happened, with Kansas City Chiefs coming out winners over Philadelphia Eagles by 38 to 35. However, the odds for the 2023 season have already been released by Westgate SuperBook. They gave the odds for Pittsburgh Steelers as 60/1, making the team outsiders to lift a seventh Lombardi Trophy.
Only seven teams have longer odds than the Steelers
There are only seven teams listed with longer odds than the Steelers by Westgate SuperBook.
We spoke to a journalist from JustGamblers who has experience examining the betting and casino landscape in the US and asked what he thinks. He told us,
“When you look at the odds published by SuperBook, you can see that only Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, and Houston Texans are rated as having less chance of winning. They have longer odds than the Steelers, while the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and New England Patriots have the same odds. Given the Steelers’ less than stellar performances lately, these odds are an accurate reflection.”
Seeing the teams favored to succeed during the 2023 season, you can clearly see how much of a reflection on the Steelers’ recent history Westgate SuperBook’s predictions are.
Steelers odds are in stark contrast to favorites
According to SuperBook, the joint favorites to win Super Bowl 58 are the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills at 6/1. They are followed by the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, with both receiving odds of 8/1.
Of the teams in AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals are the most-favored, with odds of 10/1. The Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens also have shorter odds than Pittsburgh.
Why are the Steelers’ odds so long?
The main reason behind the long odds of Pittsburgh being Super Bowl champion next season is the team’s offensive performance. The Steelers’ offense ranked 23rd this year for the second consecutive season.
It’s also worth mentioning that Matt Canada is keeping his job as offensive coordinator for next season. It remains to be seen how this decision works out, but the overall reaction by fans and the media is negative, with that spilling over to the sportsbooks and oddmakers as well.
Another factor to consider is that the last time the Steelers won a playoff game was during the 2016 NFL season.
Of course, there is a long way to go until the 2023 regular season begins.
In the weeks between now and then, free agency and the NFL Draft take place, so changes will happen. Given this opportunity for a potential line-up change, it’s unlikely that Pittsburgh’s odds will shorten a lot before next season. It will be interesting to see what happens at the SuperBook now that Super Bowl 57 is over, but realistically, the shortest odds available for the Steelers next season are likely to be around 40/1.
