Watch: Killebrew snags lone turnover versus Bills

The NFL preseason often allows players to be evaluated in different ways than they normally would be. On Saturday, August 17, the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Buffalo Bills and one special teams ace got a highlight reel play on defense: Miles Killebrew.

Killebrew has lined up in the defensive backfield for the Steelers before. That he was given snaps at safety come as little surprise considering the numerous changes in personnel that are brought in and out of preseason games. Known more for his skill at blocking kicks (especially punts), Killebrew grabbed a pass that looked like it had his name on it for an interception.

Former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mitchell Trubisky started the game as presumptive QB1 Josh Allen watched from the sidelines. It wasn’t a friendly homecoming for Trubisky – who was sacked by Nick Herbig, Keeanu Benton for 2.0 sacks – threw an errant pass that landed right in Killebrew’s hands on 2nd & 10 from the Buffalo 36 in the second quarter. Killebrew was able to return the pick for short yardage and give the ball back to the Pittsburgh offense.

The Steelers defense prevented the Bills from scoring any offensive touchdowns in the game. Killebrew’s interception was the only turnover in a low-scoring affair that was highlighted by field goals.
