Only one Steeler is a finalist for this year’s NFL Honors

Finalists for eight of The Associated Press’ 2024 NFL awards, including the five players in contention for MVP, were revealed at the end of January. Finalists were determined through the The AP’s voting system, which was revamped in 2022 and asks voters to rank their top five picks for MVP and the top three for other awards.

The winners will be announced at the 14th annual NFL Honors ceremony on February 6th, which will air live at 9 p.m. ET on FOX and NFL Network and stream on NFL+. (The program will not air live in all time zones.)

NFL Honors, which debuted in 2012, also features the announcement of the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year presented by Nationwide and the newest Pro Football Hall of Fame Class the week leading up to the Super Bowl. Award presenters will include NFL players and Legends, former coaches, and celebrities. As the reigning Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, Pittsburgh Steelers DE Cameron Heyward will be one of the ceremony’s presenters.

The full list of awards and finalists are detailed below. Only one member of the 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers is a finalist for this year’s awards as T.J. Watt is one of five vying to be named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.

Watt is up against Philadelphia Eagles LB Zack Baun, Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II, NFL sacks leader Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson, and reigning DPOY Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett. Despite his lowest sack output since his rookie season, Watt was still a defensive wrecking ball forcing a league-high six forced fumbles.
