Another blue-collar defensive-back that made his mark in the later years under Bill Cowher, #41 Lee Flowers.
Lee Flowers played in 112 games in his career which he started 75 of them. He finished his 9-year career with 307 solo tackles and 4 interceptions. He also accumulated 12 sacks and 22 tackles-for-loss.
At 6 ft, 213 pounds, Flowers was the 5th-round pick in the Steelers’ 1995 draft. However, Flowers would not come into its form until the 1998 season. In his first full 16 game season in Pittsburgh, he finished the year with 101 total tackles and a single pick. He also scored 3 forced fumbles and a sack.
Flowers would continue a consistent stretch for the remainder of his time in the Steel City, starting in every game he participated in.
Flowers was a very consistent member of the Steelers defenses in the late 1990s. While he did not share a massive spotlight with players like Joey Porter and Deshea Townsend, his stats show us that you do not need to be an All-Star to be a consistent football player.
Lee, from Columbia, South Carolina, was born on January 14, 1973. He also attended Georgia Tech University.
