5 Steelers earn game balls for nail-biting victory over the Seahawks
For the first time this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have won two in a row after beating the Seattle Seahawks at Heinz Field in primetime on Sunday Night Football. Following a nail-biting regulation period, the Steelers were able to pull off a win during the overtime period. The Steelers now sit at 3-3 heading into their bye week.
So, let’s go ahead and hand out some game balls to five key Steelers in Sunday night’s game.
Najee Harris
Harris had a great game on the ground and in the air. Harris finished the game with 81 rushing yards (on 24 attempts) and six receptions for 46 yards. The rookie phenom was key in helping the Steelers win the battle up front by grinding for more yardage in tough rushing situations.
T.J. Watt
Watt finished Sunday night with seven total tackles (six solo, one assisted), two sacks, one forced fumble, two QB hits, and three passes defended. His strip of scrambling Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, out of the pocket as a runner, allowed the Steelers offense to set up the game-winning field goal in the overtime period.
Cameron Heyward
Heyward finished the game with nine total tackles (six solo, three assisted), one sack, two tackles for a loss, and one QB hit. His veteran leadership gave the Steelers’ defense a boost, especially in the second half when Seattle began running the ball offensively in order to set up a more effective passing game.
Ben Roethlisberger
I’ve been waiting to give Ben Roethlisberger a game ball for weeks; now I finally can. Roethlisberger finished the game with 229 yards passing (40 attempts, 29 completions) and one touchdown. He also only took one sack for a quarterback rating of 99.2. He connected with Diontae Johnson (9 receptions, 71 yards), Pat Freiermuth (7 receptions, 58 yards), and Harris the most in the passing game.
Chris Boswell
I couldn’t hand out Week Six’s awards without giving a game ball to the guy who won us the game: Chris Boswell. Boswell was 3-3 on all field goals made. His longest kick went for 52 yards. It was Boswell’s 37-yard kick that cleared the uprights that ended the overtime period and gave the Steelers plenty to celebrate in a physical game with the Seahawks. It’s not surprising his teammates mugged him after the kick that pushed Pittsburgh to a 3-3 record on the season.
