The Steelers 4th Round pick, Calvin Austin III had a big season at Memphis. On September 11, 2021, the Memphis Tigers played the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The game was a back-and-forth, high-scoring battle between the two schools. Newly-drafted Steelers WR, Calvin Austin III, led the way for the Tigers with six receptions for 239 total yards. The speedster caught three touchdowns as well, one of which went for 75 yards.
Austin III’s first catch of the game came during the Tigers first drive. On 3rd and 5, Memphis quarterback Seth Henigan found Austin III for a 55-yard touchdown. During their next drive, Austin moved the chains twice to help extend the drive for an eventual touchdown for the Tigers. Time went on and Calvin found the endzone again in the 3rd quarter off of a 50-yard receiving touchdown.
At the beginning of the 4th quarter, Calvin catches another long pass, this time for 37 yards. This drive also ended in a touchdown for Memphis. Once the Tigers got the ball back, Austin III had his biggest and longest catch of the season and collegiate career.
Austin III finished the season with 74 receptions for 1,149 yards and eight touchdowns.
