What games to watch this weekend if you’re a Steelers fan
Steelers fans, we have arrived at the bye week for the 2022 NFL regular season, which means there’s no Steelers game this weekend.
So, what does a Steelers fan do when the team isn’t in action? That’s a great question that I’m going to answer right now!
There are a number of games on this weekend’s schedule that should interest a diehard Steelers fan, as it may give a glimpse into the team’s future games, opponents, and even how the standings may fare. Here’s a few options for those of you who might be couch surfing for something to watch on Sunday – or Monday!
NFL RedZone
Okay, this is the low-hanging fruit, but it covers everything.
If you don’t know what RedZone is, look into it: the channels automatically switches between live games to show you highlights or even potential highlights of teams that are about to score, or need a big play.
AFC North Opponents
The Cleveland Browns are also on a bye this weekend, which means that only the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens are active.
The 4-4 Bengals will play against the Carolina Panthers Sunday at 1 PM ET. Cincinnati returns home after getting walloped on the road by the Browns on Monday night and will have to turn things around quickly on a short week against a 2-6 Panthers team still searching for their identity.
The 5-3 Ravens will travel to New Orleans to face the 3-5 Saints on Monday Night Football. This is a no-brainer for football fans in general who watch all of the primetime games, but this matchup should especially intrigue Steelers fans as the gauge their post-bye opponent, the Saints, playing against a division rival.
It will also give us a chance to see if Ravens head coach John Harbaugh makes any other “brainy” in-game decisions that could cost his team a victory!
Dolphins vs. Bears
Also being played in the Sunday 1 PM ET window, this game may alleviate some concerns about who the Steelers have already lost to, as well as the impact this game could have on the team’s future.
The 5-3 Dolphins are playing good football following the return of Tua Tagovailoa, but its their opponent who Pittsburgh may key in on. The Chicago Bears recently swapped their second round pick for WR Chase Claypool, and we could see the former Steeler debut this weekend. However, fans will want to side with Miami in this one, so the Bears record continues to plummet, making that second round pick a high second round pick!
Titans vs. Chiefs
And just for the heck of it, neither of these teams truly impact the Steelers right now as they won’t face Pittsburgh during the regular season. However, both franchises sit atop their divisions with 5-2 records as they head into Sunday Night Football.
Chances are this will be a fun game to watch: and you may even see an appearance by rookie QB Malik Willis, who everyone thought the Steelers were going to draft (instead of Kenny Pickett). The comparisons between the two will likely be made from here until eternity, so why not tune in?
