Stats that stood out in 2016: Ben Roethlisberger edition

Ben Roethlisberger had one heck of a 2016 season, one in which he piled up career and franchise records while making his mark as one of the NFL’s all-time greats.

Let’s take a look at some of those stats “that stood out” for Big Ben’s season, and how that reflects on his career.

Stat of the Year: 45,000

Ben Roethlisberger became the first player in Pittsburgh Steelers history to throw for over 45,000 yards in his career. He’s did so in his 179th career game, which is the fifth-fewest games by a quarterback to reach the mark. He’s the eleventh QB to reach the milestone, only the eight to do it all with one team, and only one of four active players to have done so.
