Plays of the Year: Lawrence Timmons changes the momentum
Steel City Underground presents “Plays of the Year” featuring the tops runs, catches, hits and everything else in-between for the Steelers 2016 season.
After losing four straight games the Steelers hard turned their postseason hopes around with consecutive victories over the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts. Following the “mini-bye” (a few extra days off following a previous Thursday Night Football game) the Steelers returned home to attempt to extend their streak.
However, there were still doubts that Pittsburgh could hang with legitimate contenders. The Browns were the worst team in football and the Colts were playing with a backup quarterback. The Steelers entered the game 6-5, just above .500 while the Giants boasted an 8-3 record.
Could the Steelers continue their winning ways?
It didn’t look pretty through the second quarter. The Steelers were hanging on to an awkward 5-0 lead as the Giants approached the red zone with 8:33 remaining in the half. From Pittsburgh’s nine-yard line, New York QB Eli Manning stepped back to pass, attempting to take the lead with a touchdown pass that was taken away by Lawrence Timmons!
